Yes, once the .wold file is loaded into the game it is stored on the game server, So you do not need to keep the original file.

However, you are better to keep it and just make a new folder...anywhere on your computer to keep the .world file archived.

You never know you might make changes to the file you downloaded (colors/textures) and if you do you defiantly want to save these changes to a file. The game has been know to bug and loose files from the server sometimes
