Uhm. Every download has its own description (if the creator has put one there, of course).
It all looks like broken shaders. Probably some values have been tuned way beyond the allowed limits.

Doesn't work like that, it's just a texture. To make it work like on the picture someone will have to create a new shader and a bunch of new textures.

It is possible to stop any animation, but it won't show for other people not using this mod.

A new beard texture is required for that. Red is happening because the intensity value is beyond the shader's design parameters.

The transparent ghost shader has been deleted from the game by the devs (probably so that people wouldn't abuse it too much). The pink avatar just indicates that the material is missing.

Making clothes usable by other gender is not something that can easily be done in 3dx due to a lot of technical reasons. Mostly because male and female skeletons are different and the geometry wouldn't fit. Clothes are not being adjusted by the base model, they have their own rigging and just hide parts of the body model.
C++ would have been more challenging though

And 3dxChat user galleries are not even protected by a login password or anything, any random people can access them if they want, no need to even use the game client or have an account.

Hmm, I haven't really compared, but the only quality loss can be from displaying the image as a texture. The screenshots are captured in png, which is a lossless format.
Gallery pictures can be screenshoted without any restrictions, also, every time an image is opened, a direct link to it is saved to the game log, which can be easily copy-pasted into a browser. Your images are not safer in the vanilla game client.
Aw, you haven't watched Gravity Falls? You totally should, it's awesome. It may take a few episodes to get into, but is totally worth is. Especially all the main baddie's psychedelics

The only data (besides the files in the game's folder) the game uses is the registry branch, but it's only used to store in-game settings. You can try clearing it, but I don't think it's in any way relevant, it just stores the settings you can change from the game's UI.
Having some weird settings set for the game specifically in the video card settings would be a possibility if it only happened on the desktop machine with the nVidia card. The embedded Intel HD Graphics has pretty much zero useful settings, and those are certainly completely different from nVidia's.
I'm honestly out of ideas what it could be without looking at the issue myself.
If it's possible to install, say, a temporary clean Windows copy into another location just to test in a clean environment and see if the issue reproduces or not — that would be the way to exclude (or not) the software issues. Probably shouldn't mess with the VAIO's setup though if you don't know what you're doing, it can have a peculiar installation procedure, unless you can just stick in a spare drive for a test.
Wait, so both Shay and Queen have the same issue, right? Queen has a Sony VAIO laptop with an i5 CPU and an integrated Intel HD Graphics card, running Windows 7, while Shay has a Core 2 Duo E6700 desktop with an nVidia 8400GS card, running Windows 10? The hardware is way too different, there may be something common in the software part that is glicthing?
The game should run fine with this PC setup...
Dumb question: have you installed the video card drivers and DirectX 9.0c?
The most likely reason is some shader is not compatible with the video card (probably water, or some environment stuff). Have you tried simple water?

The problem is not adding additional colors / textures / whatever to the game, the problem is that the vanilla client can only load certain stuff it expects to find, so such additional stuff will only be visible to people playing the same modded version of the game.
