    Jump Steps

    Hi all This tutorial is about "Jump Steps" So what is a Jump Step? Well its a props placed to allow you to cross/jump through a window or invisible wall (and visible walls in advanced cases) to allow you access to the other side. So to start with, any props you can walk on can be used as a Jump step, but the most common are Light Cubes and Coffee tables. Prop placement. The prop you are using for your Jump Step should ways be place on the "Other side" of the window/wall you are trying to cross. Never put the prop 1/2 way through as that just cause players to get stuck. Don't be shy to leave a small gap between the window/wall and your Jump Step as we want people to "Jump" through the window...not Walk across it. You can see I have lined up a row of White blocks to "Jump" through APT2 window. Now, this by itself works perfectly fine...but often we still see new players getting stuck. People becoming stuck are generally clicking on the front face of the block which makes the Avi want to "Walk Through" the window/wall instead of " Jumping" through it. So to promote people to click the top of the Jump Step we cover up the bits we don't want them to click. In the picture below you can see I have used Speakers to hide the sections of the Light Cubes I do not want people to click. So by covering up the White Light Cube areas that might cause people to get stuck, I have now made the "Jump Step" Newbie Proof Now a couple of Notes: All ways put your Jump block on the "Other-Side" of the Wall/Window you are trying to cross. The Idea is you want them to "Jump" across ...not walk Always cover the parts of the Jump Step you do not want people to click on with "non-walk able" props (like speakers) In APT2, you do not need to "JUMP" back into the room....you can just walk back through the window. (if you are getting STUCK walking back into APT2...the Jump Block is too high. Just lower it. in APT1, you need to JUMP in and out of the Apartment Balcony. Once outside the balcony there is 3 more Invisible walls to deal with If set up correctly players should only need to single click on the Jump Step to "Jump" across the Wall/Window.   2. Hi All I have been asked many times about what the coordinates of the walls in the 3DX Apartments (APT) are, so I figured I would write an article about it Whats a coordinate? Well, it's numbers that tell the game where in the game space a prop is. They look like this: <object> <name>pole</name> <posX>8.986866</posX> <posY>3.37500143</posY> <posZ>4.97816944</posZ> <rotX>0</rotX> <rotY>270</rotY> <rotZ>90</rotZ> </object> This one is for a single Pole and its in APT2 The posX,Y,Z coordinates tells the game where the prop is in the game space and the rotX,Y,Z tells the game the rotation of the prop. The game creates the same code for every prop you put in your room. Apartment Walls Now before we move on I want to create an easy reference to the walls of Apartment 1 and 2 walls. These drawings (thank your Tamara) will name the walls for your reference (I hope the Modz creators adopt this as a standard for their Modz) So when you see me talking about "Wall A2-2" you will know its Apartment 2, wall 2 The blue X is marking the Zone in points(X 0, Y 0, Z 0) and it also shows the direction in which the prop will move depending on the Positive or Negative number you use. As we are looking down on the apartment, "-Z" is left and "+Z" is right. So if our "posZ" and "posX" coordinate were both "0" the prop would be in the center of the cross. If we wanted to move the Prop to the Left 5 steps we would make our "posZ" a negative number. Example "posZ -5"(Left) to move it right the number would be "posZ 5"(Right) Coordinates for Apartment Walls Ok so here I will list the X 0, Y 0, Z 0 of all the walls in all the Apartments. But first, let me explain a few things. When you are using a Modz like Lions Pole Art Creator, it has a Window that shows the Art you have uploaded to it. Like this Apple The Top left of the view window is the Starting point. Because I know the what the top left coordinates are on the top left of Wall A2-1 and I used these coordinates in lions Modz. My picture appears Now I want my Apple in the middle of Wall A2-1, So I need to move it over. So because I need to move it in the "pos-Z" direction I will decrease the Z number I used in Lions Modz The original Number was " Z: 4.984" and I want to move it left (remember the Apartment reference pictures above) So I will remove the "4" and make the number "Z: 0.984" in Lions Modz. YA!!! now it's in the Middle of my Wall Below are the Coordinates for the top left of each wall in Apartment 1 and 2. Have fun!!! <3 Ayon Notes: The coordinates listed below are for Poles only. If you want to use other props to create your Art with you will need to find the coordinates for the prop you want to use.   4. Hi All So a lot of people have asked me how to make a perfect circle dance floor. Well there is a few ways to do it, but I thought I would show the simplest. To start with...some notes: I am using AlexRyders Extender Modz in 1.0 to create this. This can be done Rochi's Modzas well...it will just require a steady hand and patience. First Put a prop in your room (in this case i am using the Book-shelve, xml code named "rack_1") You can see in the picture i have put the prop where i want the "Center" of my circle to be. Now the fun begins. In the tool bar on Alex Modz, I have set my Y rotation to x3 and I have turned off the mouse. Now copy the first book-shelve and rotate it "1 step" to the left....repeat!!! NOTE: A x3 (or 3deg) rotation means for a complete circle you will need 120 book-shelves. So for a smaller deg rotation you will need more props...i.e. 1deg will require 360 props. This is what you will end up with. A circle of 120 book-shelves. So, we now have these in the "Exact" center of our circle.....now all we do is move them out an exact amount of horizontal steps. Before you start you will see I have set the "Axis" to "Local" and the X and Y axis to 0.6 Now, for this example i am moving each book-shelve out (forward arrow in this example) 20 steps x 0.6 There is no real reason for this...its just what i did for this example. You can move your props as far as you like... Annnnnnnnd!!! the very last one You have now made a perfect circle once the outer ring is completed you could make something like this!!
